Alfonsina Nancy (Devito) Dondiego
8 November 1925 – 31 March 2025
Alfonsina Dondiego passed on from this life to her eternal reward in Heaven on Monday 31 March after a prolonged illness. In Heaven she was welcomed home with open arms and hearts by her loving and devoted husband Vito (56+ years, married 5 October 1947), their sons James (d. 1962) and Paul Patrick (d. 2004), and many relatives and friends.
The welcoming committee also included her parents Carmela Annarumma and Giuseppe Devito, her sisters Maryanne and Maurice Rowe, Domenica and Morris Baiardi, and brothers Joseph and Carol Devito, and Robert Devito.
Alfonsina and Vito have a very loving immediate family: their children William and Jo-Ann (Sola) Dondiego, Joan Puglisi and Peter Rees, Carol Ann Dondiego, Anne Marie Dondiego and Kevin Desai, Michael and Margaret (Holland) Dondiego, and Norma (Fullam) Dondiego.
Alfonsina and Vito had the great pleasure of welcoming 10 amazing grandchildren: Christopher and Michelle Puglisi, Theresa and Anthony Prizzi, John and Kristi Dondiego, Gina and Brian Anderson, Angela and Adam Oppenheimer, Brandon and Nicole Dondiego, Stephanie and Brandon Kinkade, Alanna and Tony Moore, Vincent and Jessica Dondiego, and Anthony Dondiego and Hannah Murrin.
Alfonsina and Vito and the entire family are also blessed by 23 wonderful great-grandchildren: Nevaeh, Shavonne, Paul, Vito, Emma, Victoria, Angelina, Madeline, Xavier, Gavin, Charlotte, Abigail, Alexa, Sophia, William, Nathan, Dominic, Cayden, Lucca, Declan, Vito Valentine, Isla, and Vivienne (on the way).
Alfonsina leaves many nieces and nephews as well. She truly had a life well-lived with many wonderful memories and experiences shared by all. She will be deeply missed and always held in our hearts.
The Dondiego family extends our deepest appreciation and gratitude to all the staff, aides, nurses, and doctors at The Bristal Assisted Living Center in Massapequa; Central Island Rehabilitation Center; and the various hospitals, including Good Shepherd Hospice at Mercy Hospital, Rockville Centre; that all took such good care of mom.
