Barbara (Wong) DeMeo passed away peacefully on Monday, March 10, 2025. She was born on June 7, 1930, in Brooklyn, New York. Barbara was the devoted wife of the late Sonny DeMeo, with whom she shared 70 loving years of marriage.
She is survived by her children, Marlena DeMeo Leung (Dennis Leung) of New York and Dr. Gregory DeMeo (Kate DeMeo) of Delaware. Barbara was a cherished grandmother to Barbra Leung Askinazi (Craig), Erica Leung, Abigail DeMeo, and Gregory DeMeo, as well as a proud great-grandmother.
Barbara had a keen mind for finance, which led to a long career as a bank teller at the Bank of New York — a career unfortunately cut short by blindness caused by a condition called Retinitis Pigmentosa. Despite living with this condition for over 20 years, Barbara continued to live life to the fullest. She had a passion for mystery audiobooks, was an avid talk radio listener, and held a deep love for the timeless music of Frank Sinatra.
Barbara’s honesty, warmth, and unwavering love for her family will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
