On Good Friday, April 2nd 2021, Benedetta Giletto, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away at the age of 90.
Benedetta was born on December 27th of 1930 in Mistretta, Sicily. Her parents were Lorenzo and Lucia Giusto. Benedetta was the first born of her four siblings; Orazio, Lucia, Enza and Gaetano. Benedetta went on to marry Michele Giletto on April 25th, 1958. They had two beautiful children, Josephine and Joseph. Benedetta, Michele and their children migrated to America in November of 1966. Benedetta left behind all her family in Sicily so she and her husband could provide a wonderful life in the US for their children. She worked as a seamstress in Brooklyn, NY for her entire career, until she retired to help raise her grandchildren. Benedetta was “Nonna” to her four grandchildren; Gianni, Roberto, Justine and Christian. Her life’s passion was to be a caretaker and what an amazing caretaker she was. She raised them, watched them grow and graduate, cooked and baked for them, even danced with them at their weddings. She was at every single event and celebration with a huge smile beaming with pride. The next milestone for Benedetta was becoming a “Bisnonna” to her four great grandchildren; Marcello, Luciana, Milania and Eliana. The love and adoration she had for these babies was beyond compare. Benedetta had enough love to go around. She not only loved her family, but made everyone important to her feel like family. To know her was to love her.
Benedetta was the Matriarch of her family and is survived by her children, Josephine and her husband Rosolino and Joseph and his wife Doreen. Her grandchildren Gianni and his wife Diana, Roberto and his wife Gina, Justine and her fiancé Connor and Christian. Her great grandchildren, Marcello, Luciana, Milania and Eliana.
