Aunt Clare was a part of our summer visits to Laurel Beach. I remember her pushing me off a Sunfish when I wouldn't move, hiding my bowl of strawberries, announcing her engagement to "engaged John", her infectious smile, putting John in her VW for a few quiet moments in the early morning, John and Patricia at the beach, playing Scrabble with Mom and Grandma, adding a "little color " to their ginger ales as they played, giving her massages when she claimed that I gave the best she had ever had, playing Ghost with all the adults and her getting annoyed when I couldn't figure out the final word. She is so large in my younger memories! I wish I had seen her more often. The few reunions and Catherine's wedding were not enough. I know she'll rest in peace.
