The Kusterer Family left a message on November 20, 2024:
We knew Hank for over 40 years. He was a wonderful neighbor and he will be missed on the block..his soccer & bike stories and his big smile. He always amazed us with his passion for biking and his ability/skill at it! We’ll miss you!
Maryann Bassi left a message on November 15, 2024:
The Bassi family will remember Hank as a good friend and caring person. Holiday dinners with his turnips and soccer stories brought laughter to the day. May he rest in eternal peace with his family and friends.
Carol and Chris Maher left a message on November 9, 2024:
Our condolences to the Van Weeren family. Henk was a special friend to my parents, Angela and Alan, to Carol and me, and to my children, Brian and his wife, Kelly, Bridget and her husband, Kevin, Kiera and Kevin. Henk moved to Massapequa Park in the late 1960s. He was always thrilled to tell people he was from Haarlem - not in New York, but in Holland. He was an avid biker and enjoyed telling stories about traveling for S&S, biking in Holland or his family. I can’t count the number of times we had dinner together – he was always a welcome guest in our home. We came home many nights to find Henk in our house watching Islander games. He helped my dad learn some Dutch and frequently watched the NY Mets with my grandfather, Tom. I think that was just an excuse for the two of them to nap. We will miss our friend, Henk.
