James G. Drayton, age 81 of Massapequa Park passed away January 21, 2021 due to complications of Covid. Survived by his loving wife Eleanor Anne Drayton (nee Haley) of 55 years. Loving father of Charles G. Drayton, II (Ingrid Drayton), Heather Anne Renna (Jude C. Renna) and Christine Anne Moser (Kevin Moser). Adored grandfather of Elizabeth, James, Vincent, Charles, Sabrina and Gavin. Loving brother of the late Priscilla Dzurus. Lifelong Long Islander, growing up in Malverne, James and Eleanor raised their family in Bethpage. After high school, Jim enrolled in the US Army, spending 32 months in Germany as a helicopter crew chief. A 1965 graduate of Hofstra University, where he met the love of his life and founded the Hofstra Veterans Assoc. Member of US Coast Guard Auxiliary and Jones Beach Power Squadron where he taught safer boating through education. Successful CFO of several top New York Firms. Avid boater, fisherman and golfer. While your presence at the service would be greatly appreciated, for those not comfortable attending, the religious service will be available via a Zoom link on the funeral home website. I am so sorry to hear about losing Jim. Truly a great man. I met Jim through our business interactions at Henegan Construction. He was always fair and honest (and a pretty good golfer too). My fondest memory happened in Massapequa, where I too live. I ran into Jim several years ago at the King Kullen as I briskly made my way to the check out lane with a box of diapers in one arm and a 12-pack in the other. Jim slowed me down, said hello, and told me to enjoy these times, as he smiled ear to ear. Slowing down is hard to do sometimes, but I try to heed Jim's advice as often as possible. My heartfelt condolences to Mrs. Drayton, Charlie, Heather, Chrissy and the rest of the family during this difficult time. I have very fond memories of Mr Drayton for the time I kew him. From showing me how to grow roses, sharing his wine and welcoming me into his home. I will never forget his generosity and kind manner. He will be in my thoughts and prayers.
