God needed another Angel.
Janice H. Anderson passed away suddenly on May 26, 2023. Jan was at her “Happy Place” house upstate in Sidney Center before Christmas when she was taken ill.
Jan met Larry in 1981 while she was employed as a 9-1-1 operator at the Nassau County Police Communications Bureau. They were wed in 1984. Jan enjoyed the motorcycle trips she and Larry went on with the Blue Knights. Maine, North Carolina and Lake George were just some of the destinations.
In 1987, she became a Mom to John. Katie was born in 1999.
Jan was active at St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church, following in the footsteps of her parents, Helen and Bob Bergmann. Jan was a co-founder and director of the church’s Fellowship Cafe and you could find her, on the last Saturday of the month, in the kitchen or at the grill cooking. She was also a big help to Christ Episcopal Church in Babylon when they began their food program.
At their second home in upstate New York, Jan became the craft lady and would invite the neighbor’s kids over to paint ceramics, decorate wooden boxes or make bird feeders. Jan and Larry are also life members at the Maywood Depot Historical Group, a railroad history site. During the summer months, following Memorial Day, Jan would bake apple or peach pies to serve at the Depot’s Sunday Ice Cream Socials.
Janice is survived by her husband Larry, her children John and Katie and her sisters Diane Mangels (Bill) and Christine, as well as a host of cousins and in-laws, nieces and nephews. She was also a Great Aunt of five.
We are all going to miss you and love you very much.
Sov I Ro Jan.
