We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Jean Marie Olson of North Babylon. Jean was 77 years old at the time of her passing on December 26, 2023 with her loving daughters, Jennifer Marie and Sharon Lee, by her side.
Jean was born on January 2, 1946 to Genevieve (Petterson) and John Sweeney at Kew Gardens Hospital. Jean was the youngest of their four children and grew up in Bayside, New York. Jean was pre-deceased by her brothers, Jackie Sweeney and Charlie Sweeney, and survived by her sister, Carol Niedermeyer. Jean leaves behind several nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss her dearly, as well as her friends, who meant so much to Jean.
Jean was pre-deceased by her devoted husband, Richard Albert Olson, the love of her life. Jean and Richard were married for 49 years prior to his passing in 2018. Jean is survived by her two daughters Jennifer Marie (Thomas Binning) and Sharon Lee (Thomas Haubenreich) and her four grandchildren, Daniel, Matthew, Jack and Ian. Jean was a very special grandmother to her grandchildren. Jean loved her dear grandchildren with all her heart. She never missed an opportunity to spend time with them or attend an event they had going on. She would bring them to the beach in the summer and Chuck E. Cheese in the winter to name a few of her favorite places.
Jean was diagnosed with a lung disease 10 years ago. Until recent years Jean was not affected. Over the last two years Jean’s condition worsened, slowing her down to the point her earthly body could not fight any longer. Jean was a strong woman and a proud woman till she passed.
