It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Jean Truzzolino, who left us on October 12th at the age of 89. She was surrounded by her loving family in her final moments, she was a woman of immense strength and wisdom, cherishing every moment spent with her loved ones.
Born May 26, 1935, to Jerome and Lena Gaeta. Raised up in Brooklyn, she was the youngest of four children. She met the love of her life, Salvatore, Truzzolino in 1956. They married in 1958 and resided in Brooklyn where they raised their two children, Tony and Jerry. Jean was very involved in St. Sylvester’s parish. She volunteered at both the school and church and developed lifelong friendships which she cherished. She then became very involved with the St. Francis Prep community where her sons both attended. In the early 1990’s, Jean then took a secretarial job at St. Francis Prep where she worked in the computer lab for 25 years. She loved working at the school and the school loved her giving her a special honor after she retired. She was always busy, never wanting to take a break. If she wasn’t cleaning something, she was cooking something. She is renowned for her specialties – Sauerbraten, Eggplant Parmesan, Stromboli and, of course, zucchini pie. She always loved to entertain, play cards, especially “Pay Me”, enjoyed watching tennis matches and was a die-hard Yankee and NY Giant fan. However, what she most enjoyed was being a grandmother and great grandmother.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Sal, her parents, Jerome and Lena; and her siblings, Anne Taxiarkis and Jesse Gaeta.
She is survived by her children, Tony (Eileen) and Jerry (Angela); her sibling, Millie Erstad; grandchildren Anthony (Kate), Joseph (Andie), Danielle (Chris) and Jerry; and greatgrandchild, Matteo.
