Joan Sadler was born on June 2nd, 1938, to Frank and Helen Molen. She was raised in Bay Ridge Brooklyn with her siblings Patricia, Eileen, and Donald, and spent halcyon summers with her family in Point Lookout. She attended St. Brendan’s High School on a full academic scholarship, graduating with honors in 1956.
Married Bill Sadler in 1958. Two of their three children, Maureen and Michael, were born in Brooklyn. Weary of lugging two kids up to their tiny, fourth-floor walkup apartment, and wanting to provide a better environment for their growing family, Joan and Bill decided to move to a new house on 7 Dory Lane in Massapequa where their third child, James, was born.
Joan worked tirelessly to provide a wonderful home life for her family. She hosted fantastic Christmas Eve dinners where everyone received a pile of painstakingly selected and exquisitely wrapped gifts. July 4th barbecues were another highlight.
Joan and Bill travelled throughout the United States and world, including visits to Australia, New Zealand, Iceland, and Japan.
Wonderful mother-in-law to Jim McGuire, Ashley, and Sheila.
Dedicated grandmother to Megan, Katie and Ryan McGuire, Avery, Alden, John Michael, Will, Kyle and Claire. She was an enthusiastic and supportive fan at the dozens of games, recitals and concerts her nine grandchildren participated in.
Great grandmother to Megan and Liam’s children, Patrick and Keegan.
We have been so blessed to have Joan in our lives. She will be missed but lives on in countless wonderful memories and her exemplary life.
