John was a mentor and a friend at two law firms--Chadbourne & Parke and then Herrick. He was a genuinely nice man and a skilled lawyer. Terribly saddened by his loss. RIP John.

I was saddened to hear of John's passing and extend my condolences to his family. Good men are a rare breed, and John fell easily into this category. We overlapped at Herrick until I left in 1995, and over the years we stayed in contact, whether over a telephone chat or a visit, and he was always happy to say hullo and catch up. May you be comforted and strengthened by your good memories. Wishing you all Long Life.

I am fortunate and grateful to have had John as a classmate, teammate, and friend. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

I was very saddened to hear of John's passing. I remember fondly all the St. Jeanos family from their days at Grace Day School. John was a very supportive and generous parent to the school. My prayers are with all of you.

My thoughts and prayers are with the St Jeanos Family during this difficult time. May memories of John and the love of family surround you and give you strength in the days ahead.

John was a friend and colleague of mine at our law firm for over two decades, and we regularly bonded over photography and occasionally cars, two passions we shared. We'd end up getting the same camera equipment and then sharing our photos. Last year he encouraged me to get a vintage sports car I was eying, emphasizing that life's too short and we need to enjoy it while we still can. That was his philosophy that I will always cherish. John's joy of life was contagious and I will miss him terribly.

As an outside counsel to my agency, John was not only thorough, but kind and unruffled. To talk with him on a matter was to have the sense of having his full attention, as if there were no other interests or pressures in his life. (I’ll take a risk here: while John was unique, at times he reminded me of the thoughtful compassion of a Mr. Rogers.) His voice resonated with an embrace that was instructive in ways that went far beyond legal advice. His voice is now silent, but its resonance and his attention reverberate.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the St Jeanos family this day. May the memories of John give you solace and pride when you recall good life he lived. Tim and Linda Huss

John you left us way to soon. Your gentle and funny way was always refreshing to be around. We truly will miss you at our family parties. Rice pudding will always be a dessert made in your memory. John - You have been an influence in my life, for almost all my life. I have always looked up to you and knew I could rely on you for anything, you were always looking out for me. We have had so many laughs and good times together, these memories will be cherished. I will always remember our time at the cruise ship bar for the Austin Powers look alike night, laughing until they closed, I didn’t want the night to end. So many stories to be told. You have been an amazing brother-in-law and I will miss you more than words can say. You were a genuine, good hearted, happy person that everyone wanted to be around. John was my roommate in college. After I graduated, we went our separate ways and many years later we reconnected via facebook. Sadly, I learned of his passing from his daughter's posting. His family, his friends, lost a good man. RIP John. - Paul Mills

John, You have no idea how much you will be missed. We have had so many great times together. I think back to the times you and Kathleen lived in NYC - eating at Mimi’s, playing board games. We were always so impressed with your “Backwords” skills. You were always our source for trivia or TV theme songs. Thank you for all the meals, even though you threatened to claim me as a dependent. John was a fantastic man and an amazing father. He made me feel like part of the family every time I came to the house. We used to talk about how great All-American whenever I was there and his love for scotch, especially Macallan and I will never forget that. I was John's law partner and met him most mornings as he waited for the bus from Penn Station to the office. We typically shared the frustrations of our daily commute on the LIRR and NYC Transit system, What should have been a five minute trip often took much longer and our conversations would drift to our careers and our families. John was very proud of his his entire family, especially his children and their accomplishments. He was warm-hearted and always greeted me with a smile, even on the worst weather days when commuting is especially difficult. He had an honest, quick and incisive wit and never feared speaking his mind. Herrick has lost a valuable member of its family and I've a lost a wonderful travel companion who brightened up my mornings. My condolences to John's family on its loss

I was John's law partner for many years. He was a very special person who always had a pleasant way about him. I will miss him.
