John J. Colbert “Jack”, of Brooklyn/ Wantagh, NY, Passed away on May 18, 2025, at the age of 89. Born on January 29, 1936, Jack lived a life with devotion and service to his family, country and community.

Jack served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957. He later went on to serve his community as a Lieutenant in the FDNY.

A devoted husband to Kay for 67 years. Together they had four children; Jean McDermott (Jim), Debbie O’Connell (Tom), Jack (Katrin), Ed (Colleen) and 18 grand children, Courtney (Chris), Jimmy (Beth), Keri (Joe), Kevin (Sarah), Brian (Kellie), Casey, Ali, Sami, Maggie (Finn), Jess (James), Sean, Jane, Hannah, Owen, Joseph, James, Cayden and Logan who brought immense joy to his life. He was the loving brother of Sister Colleen and the late Helen who brought him many nieces and nephews.

Devoted fan of his Mets and Giants. Loved to play a round of golf with the boys and have a beer after. Quick witted, and always ready with a joke and a smile. He will be remembered for his strength, faith and the deep love he had for his family and friends. His presence will be greatly missed.
