I have such fond memories of Joey and his older brother Peter. I met them as young boys and would see them every couple of years when their dad would bring them to PD functions. They were such good kids, always happy. Their dad was so very proud of them. I remember loaning Joey a violin when he was a young boy taking lessons. I cannot put into words the sadness that I feel over his passing. My deepest condolences to Pete, Peggy, and Peter on their loss. I will always keep them and Joey in my thoughts and prayers.
Keegan Kennedy left a message on February 12, 2019:
Our family is heartbroken at the passing of Joey. During the Fourth of July vacation week every year, Joey, myself, and our cousin Kevin would spend the whole week competing in as much miniature golf as we could. Outrageous bets were made that we knew we could never fulfill, but the idea of beating each other in miniature golf fueled our claims of million dollars matches. Sometimes, serious matches turned into silly ones, and we let down our guards of wanting to be the best to just hang with each other and goof off. We always knew that there would be another match, and we all know that we will see Joey again. I will always cherish those memories. Miss you Joey and I look forward to a rematch.

Joe was truly one of the nicest men I ever met. He was so generous and caring. He was also a fellow Mets fan so he understood pain and frustration. (Mets fans will get that). In fact, we watched several games of the 2015 World Series and commiserated together. Joe had many demons but they were paled in comparison to the love in his heart. I almost never heard him say anything bad about anyone. He always had that goofy smile on his face. He also shared my sense of humor and sarcasm. I used to receive ridiculous pictures from him. He talked about "me-mees" (Memes) and used to try to make them. He wasn't very good at them lol. He had this playfulness about him. He touched many lives in his short time on this planet. Joe, I will miss you tremendously brother. You were a huge part of my world the last 4 years. My heart is shattered that you will not be a part of it in the future, only in the memories. To one of God's faithful soldiers and a beautiful man, you will be missed Joe. Please give us a sign that you're still around and doing ok. The only consolation is I know you are at peace. God must have needed another Angel and called you home. Rest easy my friend. Till we meet again....
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

Joey is a beautiful soul. When Joey's cousin Ryan (my son) was 2 and Joey was 10, Peggy would bring Joey to our home in Westmont, NJ to visit. Joey would look after Ryan with such care and such pride. The world will miss this caring man.
