Linda Susan Hersh, 70, passed away in the early morning on Friday June 11, 2021 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Linda was born August 31, 1950 at Oceanside Hospital in New York. , the daughter of Joseph Kubinciak and Helen Kubinciak (Jaworaska).
Linda graduated with an Associates Degree from Nassau Community College. She was one of the first women in her family to graduate with a degree in the United States. On June 12, 1976, Linda married Paul Hersh at the Massapequa Presbyterian Church. Linda was married for one day shy of 45 years to her beloved husband, Paul Hersh. Linda had a full time vocation as a mother raising her two daughters, Michelle and Laura, alongside her beloved husband Paul. At the same time, Linda was a part-time waitress at the Circle M Diner in Wantagh, New York. Linda loved bowling in the Tuesday league at Farmingdale Bowl, and once bowled a 300 perfect game!
Linda was an amazing mom. Her daughters’ favorite childhood memories were how she helped create halloween costumes, how she supported the girl’s passion for art and dance, her love of books and learning, bathtimes, and many fun family outings on the weekends. As they grew into young women, Linda was a pillar of understanding, love, and reflection. Laura and Michelle could always talk to their mom and her logical way of seeing and approaching the world was truly supportive.
Linda was playful, quirky, intelligent, and – physically cold! She always wore earmuffs, even in Florida when everyone was wearing shorts. Her unusual and quirky sense of humor always made her family and friends laugh. To say that Linda loved reading is an understatement. She absorbed book after book and was intrigued by mysteries, murder mysteries, crime novels, and especially Stephen King. She loved books so much that she could listen to the T.V. at the same time. Linda loved movies and films, going to the beach, the Beatles, classic folk rock music, dancing, and gambling for fun on Casino boats with her friends and family. Her daughters are grateful for their mom’s love of music. Favorite memories of music include listening to Billy Joel’s Stormfront, the Traveling Wilbury’s, and the Beach Boy’s Kokomo on the way to bowling where their mom always gave the girls a few dollars to put into the jukebox to play music. Linda is loved and will surely be missed with all our hearts.
Linda is predeceased by her brother Robert Joseph Kubinciak, father Joseph Kubinciak, and mother Helen Kubinciak.
