Funeral services were held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Massapequa Park, New York and Calverton National Cemetery on November 4, 2024 for Marie LaBarbera Castellano who passed away peacefully on October 31, 2024 at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City after a brief illness. Her devoted daughter, Karen and her husband, Jerry, were by her side. Marie had recently celebrated her 104^th birthday.

Marie was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who always saw the best in everyone. She celebrated her loved one’s joys and accomplishments and provided sympathy to those who were in pain. She lived her life in such a positive way that inspired many who knew and loved her to do the same. Her work ethic and practical thinking, baking and cooking skills, loving and nurturing ways will be remembered by so many always.

In her early career, she worked as an interviewer for the New York State Department of Labor and then in administration for the Nassau County Police Department for thirty years where she made many lifelong friends.

Marie is survived by her three loving daughters, Janice Castellano, Barbara Castellano Feldman (Dave) and Karen Castellano (Jerry Newirth), her adoring grandchildren, Christopher Feldman (Krysta), Jenna Feldman Berry (John Austin), Isabella Newirth, and Spencer Newirth and four great grandchildren who brought her much joy; Oliver Feldman, Emma Feldman, Harper Berry and Juliet Berry.  She so enjoyed the love and company of numerous nieces and nephews and long-time friend, Lorainne Valis, all of whom she adored.

Marie was preceded in death by her loving husband of almost sixty years, Frank Castellano, parents, Salvatore and Rosina LaBarbera, two sisters, Frances Simonetti and Sadie LaBarbera, three brothers, Frank LaBarbera, Dominic LaBarbera and Charles LaBarbera, and their spouses, Frank Simonetti, Frances LaBarbera, Josephine LaBarbera, a niece, Francis Almeida, and a nephew, Bobby LaBarbera.
