On September 11, 2022, Marino Prodan of Seaford, NY tragically passed away at the age of 58. He was a proud father, loyal husband, and loving son and brother. Marino, born in Croatia, lived there until he was 7 years old. He migrated to the U.S. with his mother, father, and sister, and settled in Astoria, NY. Marino then became a U.S. citizen, earned a college degree, and began his successful career in the corporate real estate industry. For the last 23 years, Marino has worked for Jones Lang LaSalle, where he has been a Managing Director since 2011. Throughout his career, he formed lifelong professional and personal relationships. Marino was passionate about the work he did with Donate Eight, a non-profit organization that works to save the lives of those in need of a transplant.

Marino is survived by his wife Laurie of 30 years, daughters Nicole and Victoria, mother Mirela, and sister Bruna. He was a loving brother in law, son in law, uncle, great uncle, cousin, and friend to many. Marino’s daughters were his pride and joy. He celebrated in their accomplishments as if they were his own, and his love for them was evident.

Those who knew Marino knew of his love for boating, fishing, and hunting. It was during these trips that he shared his favorite memories with those he loved. May we all go forward cherishing our memories and the time we spend with one another like he would have wanted.

My condolences to the family on the passing of Marino. I just found out today. He was a friend, great work colleague and had a great sense of humor. We worked together for a number of years at JLL. I thought I would share a fond memory. This was at Bob Brown's home in Trumbull CT, A work barbecue. I am deeply saddened to learn of Rino's death. Mirela was my landlord for 5 years, I lived above her, and Rino's visits really brought the place to life. I have been abroad for the last 8 years. When I return to visit in January I will try to see Mirela and share my condolences directly with her. I wish peace and health to the whole family.

I was saddened to hear about Marino. It came as a shock. Wishing Laurie, Nicole, Victoria and the rest of his family and loved ones our deepest condolences. Marino was always there to help, he was a true gentleman and good friend. We rode the LIRR and Subway to Deutsche Bank together for many years. I’ll miss you my friend and I know you are in a good place. You will always be in our prayers.

Our families were friends from Nova Vas, Croatia. My mother often spoke about Marino mother’s family how they brought joy to her family. They often went over to visit with this large, happy family. Marino, his sister, mother and father had that same connective, happy energy. They always made you laugh. I later bumped into Marino periodically at the Citibank cafeteria. He always made sure to say hello and always had a smile on his face. So many attended the funeral that I couldn’t provide my condolences personally to the family. He died too young. Rest In Peace my dear friend.

My deepest condolences to the Prodan family, my thoughts and prayers are with you all. I am so sorry for your loss. We will miss Marino dearly; it is so hard to believe he is not here. He genuinely loved and cared about people, his friends, co-workers, neighbors, and most of all he loved and adored his beautiful family. He would say how proud he and Laurie were of Nicole and Victoria, and their accomplishments so far in their young life. And always making a pitstop to see Mom to pick up some home cooking before heading upstate. In the office, we worked together for over 10 years. It was uncanny, whenever either of us got transferred to another account, it wouldn’t take very long for us to be re-united on same account, and the world was right again. But outside of work, to be called a friend of Marino was truly an honor. He was a very special man. He was always helping people, especially in their time of need, always doing something with a nice touch, light and humorous. And really didn’t want much in return, a thank you note, a phone call, but most of all friendship. He touched all of our hearts in different ways. He was a kind, generous, gentle, thoughtful, and considerate person. With enormous work and family responsibilities, he would still find the time to plant spring flowers for his elderly neighbors; drive out of his way to help a friend fix a flat tire on a snowy day; look after me while I was in hospital offering to winterize my house before the cold weather set in; ask if my son would be interested in his old truck before he traded it in, knowing that my son was just getting his drivers permit. And the joy he brought to a young man sitting behind the steering wheel of “Marino’s truck” for the first time. Thank you, Marino for such special moments and memories. God bless you Marino, we will always remember you and your beautiful smile, the way you greeted us when we would see you, a hug, a kiss, and always a “Love You pal” when leaving. Love you too, Pal

Laurie, Victoria, Nicole and to all of Marino's family - I am so very sorry for your loss. There are no words of comfort at a time like this. But, please know that Marino impacted so many lives and mine was one. Marino's leadership and friendship helped me so much to grow at JLL and as a person. He was a great leader for all on his team - being real, knowing the industry and caring more than ever for everyone that worked with him. With that being said, he always talked about his family, being so proud of "Nurse Nicole" and "Victoria, whom I'll work for some day" -- he'd always say. It always made us see and appreciate what a proud father he was. I wish you peace as you grieve this tragic loss. Marino - until we meet again on the other side, dear friend, I thank you for all you have done for me and for so many. You will be deeply missed, but you will never be forgotten. I'm eternally grateful.

Marino was there for so many and always had your back and always cared for the welfare of others before himself. I am so truly fortunate to have known Marino and to be able to call him a friend and a brother. I have so many great and fond memories of Marino, 9/11 took a piece of my heart back in 2001 and took a larger piece in 2022. I will never ever forget the type of person that he is and how he made such a positive impact on the lives of so many including myself. We talked often, exchanged emails and texts, I still can't believe that he is gone, I will hold onto all of those fond memories and think of you often. I will be here for your family no matter what they need as you would of done the same for mine. The sadness is hard to explain, but I am so much better off to of known you then to of never known you at all and not have to deal with this pain. It was an honor and a privilege to know him and to be able to call him a friend and a brother. I will miss you dearly my brother. I know you will be watching out for your family and friends and still guiding us through life and challenges. Heaven just gained a real angel and we are so much better to of known you as you have done so much for all of us then we could of ever done for you. It's hard to find the word, Boss, colleague, friend or brother, Marino was all of these to me. Not a brother in the family sense of the word, rather the affection we shared when we met, which unbelievably, will be no more. My sincere condolences to Marino's family and friends. I had the privilege of working with Marino closely for several years, and words cannot express how much we would all miss him. Marino was one of the first people that supported me to use the proper pronunciation of my name in JLL and believed no one should change who they are and how their name is pronounced because of the others. This is one of the many examples of how he cared about everyone around him. Rest in Peace Marino, you will be missed.

It was a pleasure and a privilege to work with Marino Prodan for the three years that I spent with him at JLL. One of the things that I admired about Marino was his integrity and how he was straightforward, honest and candid with people, even when it was hardest to do so. Marino would manage your expectations by telling you, in a very candid and straightforward manner, how things were going to be and what to expect whether it was good, bad or somewhere in the middle and whether you would be happy about it or not. Marino was a very dynamic leader and a person of integrity. My family and I are holding the Prodan family and their loved ones in our thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time.
