Maryann Culella passed away suddenly on Tuesday, March 29th with her two loving daughters by her side. She lived a beautiful life full of family and faith.
Maryann was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1945, the youngest of four. Her passions included spending time with her family, friends and fur babies, celebrating her Italian culture, valuing traditions, cooking, volunteering, completing word puzzles, playing games, listening to the “Oldies But Goodies”, dancing, crafting and watching her favorite TV shows. She was a woman of strong catholic faith and values. In her early years, Maryann worked at the Massapequa Public Library, sharing her love of books with the community. She later taught citizenship classes to individuals seeking to become American citizens. As a former educator in the Massapequa School District for over 31 years, Maryann shared her love for learning and the value of education with her students. Her span of work within the District ranged from early elementary to the secondary level. Maryann was known for her caring and compassionate ways, her unwavering dedication to her family and friends, her witty personality and her tremendous strength during times of adversity.
Maryann is preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Joseph; her brothers Dominic, Joseph and Francis; her aunts and uncles Frances, James, Mary, Francis, Theresa, Leonard, Antoinette, Frank; and her cousins James, Robert, Agnes, Rosemary, and Elisa. She is survived by her two daughters, Mary Catherine (Howard) and Nicole (Raymond); her cousins Frank, Ben, Kenneth, Nora, Dominic, Joseph; and nieces and nephews Joseph, Ursula, Nadine, Beatrice, Dominic, Annette and Heather. She will forever be loved and remembered.
