Patricia Peppe Kolis was born on April 22nd 1936 to Theresa Reardon, cook at St. Anthony’s Church, and John Joseph Peppe, artist and savant. She grew up at 117 Varick Street in New York City with her parents and siblings, John Peppe, Jr. and Loretta Yosco. Patricia graduated Valedictorian from Cathedral High School and attended Misericordia Nursing Program. Patricia had the voice of an angel and sang every Sunday at Our Lady of Vilna. As a true New York City girl, she frequently graced the parade floats that ran down the streets of her beloved Greenwich Village.
She is predeceased by her “Golden Greek,” the love of her life Thomas Kolis. Together on Stuart Street, in Brooklyn, they celebrated 28 years of love and raised their family. Patricia is survived by her three daughters, Barbara Kolis Miciotta, Tracy Kolis Larson, and Alicia Kolis; her sons-in-law, Salvatore Miciotta, Michael Larson, and Lester Starr; and her beautiful grandchildren, Alexandra, Victoria, Elizabeth, Thomas, Alexandra Marie, and Niki. She is also survived by her adopted daughter Diane, loving godson Nicholas, godmother Eleni, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Patricia was a wonderful daughter, sister, aunt, wife, and mother. She was also a dear friend, a fantastic neighbor, and spent some of her most joyful times with St. Barbara’s Philoptochos. There was nothing she couldn’t accomplish and no person she couldn’t advise or comfort. Her warmth, sense of humor, and incredible gift for connecting with people made her a force of nature; everyone wanted to be around her. She was also so very talented. Besides her beautiful singing voice, she could paint and make the most beautiful crafts anyone had ever seen. If that wasn’t enough, she was an amazing cook. She could make a piece of bread, a garlic clove, and a tomato into a gourmet meal. She read everything she could get her hands on, which only enhanced her unique take on the world. Patricia was spicy! And aside from all of her gifts she was one of the most exquisite women that ever lived. Most importantly, she was always her authentic self. Patricia was one of a kind and we were all blessed to have her in our lives.
