Richard was a devoted husband of 58 years to Patricia Owens; loving father of Cathleen, Patricia, Richard, and Christopher; adoring father-in-law of Zarina and Young; cherished Pops of Taylor, Ryan, Casey, Elana, Arlan, Charlotte and Jameson; dear brother of Robert, Raymond, William Peters and Carol Curtis; and a trusted friend to many.
Richard was a professional civil engineer. He was a loving husband and role-model father that placed high value on family and education. He was a wise lifecoach with unwavering principles, high character, and strong faith. To his children and grandchildren, he had an ability to connect in a way that let you know he was fully vested in helping you reach your full potential. Richard took great pride in his family. He is already greatly missed.
He was a longtime NY Giants fan and faithful member of Knights of Columbus, Memorare Council #3476.
Reposing at Massapequa Funeral Home, Inc., South Chapel, 4980 Merrick Rd., Massapequa Park on Monday, November 1, 2021 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. As a devoted parishioner of 55 years, a funeral mass will be celebrated at St. James R.C. Church, 80 Hicksville Rd., Seaford on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at 10:30am. A private cremation is scheduled.
In lieu of flowers a donation may be made in memory of Richard to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the American Heart Association.
At the families request, regardless of your vaccination status, all visitors are required to wear a mask upon entering the chapel for visitation.

Dick and I first met During the late '40s in catechism classes at St. Mary's Church in Valley Stream, where both our fathers were members and friends at the KofC.
We remained close friends all through junior and senior high school years and teammates on many of the school teams; football, basketball, baseball, some occasional golf, etc. Rich then on to RPI, me to the USN, our contact became limited to high school reunions.
It wasn't until a 2016 Florida reunion when we became close once again, with so much in common; engineering, construction, sports, politics, etc. We so much enjoyed reminiscing. His obituary described him perfectly - a BEAUTIFUL individual.
