Rita was an extraordinary woman with a rough start in life. She lost her mother at the age of 8, never knew her biological father, and was sent from her birth place in Falls River, MA to live with an Aunt in NY at the age of 14. She married at 21, only to lose her husband John about 20 years later and finished raising her 2 teenage daughters as a single mom. She never had much in the way of money or material things, but she was rich in the love of family and a few good friends.
