I was lucky enough to have grown up with the Lamberts' at Tobay Beach. They are family to me. To say Bobby Lambert was a great person would be an understatement. In many ways he was a lot like my father Tyler. He was kind and caring, fair and generous.. He never wavered on his morals. Bobby taught many of the other lifeguards children, including myself, how to surf, fish, create leather crafts, repair surfboards, spearfish, clean fish but most of all how to behave as a person. The memories and experiences with Bobby will forever be in my heart. I will never forget you. Our families deepest condolences. God bless Bobby and his family.

Mrs. Lambert, Since Rob told me last week of your loss I have not been able to stop thinking about you. We have never met, but I had the privilege to work with, and for, your sons Robert and Matthew. I met your husband on 2 occasions. One was a business dinner at Sparks restaurant where among the 15-20 people there he was by far the most interesting. The other was at Tobay where he was like a bronze God to me. My thought for you is this. Although we have never met, I do know you and your wonderful husband by the interactions I had with your sons. During my 30+ year career on Wall Street they both stood out to be the most hard working, sincere, honest, and compassionate men I had the pleasure to service and work with. Both you and your husband live on through the influence you had on your children. May God grant you the peace here, that your husband now enjoys, as he anticipates your coming.

Very sorry to hear of this great loss. Coach Lambert was a first year wrestling coach at Wantagh my senior year in 1969. He coached 2 NY state champs that year putting him in rare company. He was also a daily work-out partner who helped me achieve my goals and for that I will always be in his debt. Aside from that his quiet leadership was a fine example. I am saddened by his passing. Rest in peace my friend.

My Uncle Bob was undeniably the finest human I have known. He is in a class all of his own. There Is no one that can compare to the uniqueness that is so undoubtedly him. His legacy will live on in all that had the pleasure of knowing him. I will always look up to my Uncle for his dedication and love for his family and all his amazing talents because there are so many. He was just so special to all of us. My Uncle Jimmy will miss him terribly as he loved his time with Bob. It made him so happy. We are broken hearted and will love Bobby forever. I pray for God’s strength to guide and comfort my Aunt Dee, Robert, Julie, Matthew and all the grandchildren.

What a wonderful person Bobby Lambert was. As a kid a remember paddling out to the line up to surf and here is Bobby taking off on a wave. He had the best bottom turn I have ever seen. He was a ledgend. The most kindest soft spoken man that you will ever meet. He reminded me of my father. You will always be in my heart along with all Lambert family. I will miss and never forget you. Rest in peace Bobby, you are one of a kind.

We were so sad to hear about another TOBAY legend gone way too soon. I have so many great memories of Lambo on the beach. Some of my favorites include his impromptu art classes (fish prints, wheel throwing or surfboard shaping) and Saturday morning chore sessions (power washing, board room clean outs, shelf building, etc.). I always wanted to avoid those, but I could never bring myself to abandon the project of the day once I saw Lambo start working by himself. He was such a sweet man. It was always an unbelievable treat to see him head out toward the wreck with his fishing pole only to return a few minutes later with enough striped bass for everyone. All the kids would gather when the fish blood started to fly as he carved perfect filets on a makeshift table wedged into the pavilion railing. We'd cook it right there for lunch! Life doesn't get much better and I'm so lucky to have those memories. I send my deepest love and condolences to Dee and the rest of the Lambert family. He's in a very special place along with Erica. And I know the Rude One, Greg and Tyler are real close by...Mike Fio

Beginning in the fall of 1964 I was fortunate to be a college classmate, wrestling teammate, fraternity brother, and most importantly a friend of Bob's. He was extremely well-liked and respected. I am so glad I got to see him during the summer of 2001 when our Old Order of Owls Fraternity held a centennial reunion. Rest in peace in that big wrestling mat in the sky, my friend.

Bobby Lambert was one-of-a-kind, perhaps one of the nicest people, along with the late Tyler Lynde ever to wear the Tobay Beach green and gold attire. He defeated Doppy's star wrestler Elliot Tepper in the Berner-Massapequa classic dual and Doppy later hired him as an ocean lifeguard. Doppy knew people and loved people of character - that was Bobby Lambert. He taught so many of us about life and lifeguarding and was loved and respected by everyone. On a personal note just, l always appreciated how he took my sons, Dan and Conor fishing - not a lot of fish caught - but so much invaluable time was spent with Bobby Lambo. He was a true friend and my thoughts and prayers are with Dee and the wonderful Lambert family. God Bless.

A man who has been part of my life for 34 years past last week. He epitomized not only the American Dream but the South Shore Dream, four wonderful children, great wife, great neighbor, and all around great person. Whether he was on the mat or in the classroom, he impacted the lives of so many children in a positive way. I'll remember him most for his endless endeavors from free dive spear fishing the Rotor to surf adventures on far away breaks. He was always living life to the fullest. He was one of the best Fathers, Husbands, Teachers, Coaches, Lifeguards, Surfers, Bayman, Fisherman, Neighbor, and Friend a person could ever have the pleasure to be around. Biltmore Shores lost a piece of it's soul last week. Jesus may now be the second best fisherman in heaven. I'll miss you for now but look forward to seeing you again. With Love, DF

Bob will truly be missed; not just by his family and by my family, but by the entire neighborhood. He was part of this neighborhood in the same way a sunrise is part of the morning and a full moon is part of that special night of the month. Bob was always so welcoming and friendly. He, along with Dee, were so happy when we had our daughters. They showed so much love and joy, as if they were the grandparents of our children. What a special couple. We will dearly miss Bob. His loving, joyful kindness will sadly be missed, but will never be forgotten.
