McCarthy– Rosemary A. of Massapequa (formerly of Freeport) passed away peacefully on October 21, 2024. Daughter of the late Syra & Robert F. Minnick. Sister of the late Edna Paret and Sgt. Pilot RCAF, Robert F. Minnick Jr.
Loving mother of Robert, Patricia Peterson (Raymond), Maureen, Sharon, Julie Boffardi (the late Tommy), Timothy, Christopher, Keith, and Kathleen (Kerry). Cherished grandmother of 19 grandchildren and great- grandmother of 13.
A resident of The Oaks of Massapequa Rosemary attended The Mary Louis Academy and Fordham University. She retired as the Deputy Commissioner of the Nassau County Dept. of Senior Citizen Affairs. Rosemary was one of the first female small business owners in the 1970’s, acting as both Editor and Publisher of the Valley Stream Courier and the Long Island Kernel. She was a former President of the Freeport Business Women’s Association, and AARP of Oceanside. Member of the Red Hat Society, Kiwanis Club, the Freeport Chamber of Commerce and the Nassau County Republican Club.
Rosemary will be sorely missed by her family and friends who loved her vivid storytelling, her laughter, and her “it’s 5 o’clock somewhere” mindset.
