Ruth Monti: devoted wife, mother and grandmother, dedicated teacher to local youth
Ruth Monti, a longtime Massapequa Park elementary school teacher at both Carman Road and Eastlake schools, dedicated her time to developing youth through several after school programs and theatrical productions. She was well known for her devotion to her students and to the community.Ruth passed away peacefully on 2 December 2015 at the age of 87, after living a very full and happy life.Born in Flushing Queens, Ruth met and married another student while attending Adelphi University and settled in Copiague. In 1955 they relocated to Massapequa Park to raise a family. Ruth and Fran treasured their family vacations, and as the children grew and became less dependent, they were able to fulfill their dreams of traveling together throughout the world, visiting many countries and continents. Ruth remained in the same Massapequa Park house until her demise.Ruth worked as a teacher for over 40 years, and directed many after school programs for her students. She remained very active in the community and after retirement, continued to tutor many students, often the offspring of her former students from both Carman Rd and Eastlake. She was as dedicated a teacher as she was a wife and mother and was loved by everyone who met her.Ruth was predeceased by her loving husband Fran, who passed away in 2006 and her grandson Jeffrey Braun, a US Army soldier. Ruth leaves behind her children, Meredith and Rod, son in law Bill Braun, and daughter in law Lisa Monti. She also leaves behind her three adoring grandchildren, Juliana Braun and Zoe and Mia Monti.
