Sarah Ann Mooney, 88, of Massapequa Park, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family and caretaker, Barbara.

Sarah, also called “Sally” by many, was born on July 14, 1934 in Manhattan, NY.  She was the daughter of the late Daniel A. Flannery and Winifred Teresa Burns Flannery and the sister of Mary Brady and James Flannery.

Sally was devoted to her husband of 63 years Jerald, three daughters, and nine grandchildren.  She had an unrelenting loyalty to her family and friends and loved spending time hosting many family gatherings.  She had a flair for decorating and following the lastest fashion trends. Sarah loved walking on the beach with her husband, “Jerry” and visiting her grandchildren.  She loved music and dancing and had seen many of the Jazz greats at the famous Birdland in NYC in the 50’s.  As the daughter of  parents who immigrated from Ireland, she loved all things of Irish culture incuding music, poetry, and art.

Sarah is survived by her children:  her daughter Teresa Lucente of Bethpage, NY; her daughter Elizabeth Galzerano and her husband Joseph of Garden City, NY; her daughter Jeanine Hodges and her husband Peter of Lincoln, MA ; and nine grandchildren, Kristen, Meghan and Kirsten Lucente, Michael Galzerano and his fiancé Caroline Castellano, Sarah and Katherine Galzerano, Emma, Caroline,  and Ian Hodges; sister-in-law Eleanor Flannery and nieces and nephews, cousins and best friend Kathy Scott.

She is predeceased by husband Jerald E. Mooney; sister, Mary Brady; brother, James Flannery; nephew, “Little Jimmy”Flannery; son-in-law, Jim Lucente.
