On February 3, 2025 Thomas Lloyd, 88, passed away peacefully at home. He was born on January 9, 1937 in Brooklyn, NY and was predeceased by his parents Kathleen (Healy) and Robert, his sister Ellen, and brother Michael. Upon growing up in Sunnyside, Queens with his siblings and widowed mother, Thomas served in the United States Navy prior to beginning an accounting career in New York City. He later developed a passion for technical analysis of the stock market as his second career and became a renowned writer of the financial markets and embarked upon his own technical analysis consulting practice. He was an accomplished writer which included life-long love notes to his bride of 62 years and frequent membership in local writing clubs. His crowning achievement at age 77 was the publication of his first and only book titled Successful Stock Signals for Traders and Portfolio Managers. He shared extraordinary passion with his soulmate, Eileen, and he always found great satisfaction imparting life’s wisdom upon his children and grandchildren. He loved his town of Massapequa and was the popular neighbor who always stopped along his daily walks to speak to strangers to make new friends. As the US Navy was a significant part of his early life, he would enjoy the momentous recent experiences of two grandchildren graduating from the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Eileen, and his loving children and spouses Robert (Brenda), Thomas Jr. (Vanessa), Patricia Zagara (John) and John (Jennifer). He is also survived by his thirteen grandchildren and one great grandchild; Kathleen, Christopher, Joseph, Dominic, Peter, Luke, Cecilia, Emily, Erin, Evelyn, Elizabeth, Thomas III, Annabelle and Henry. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 7th at 10:45am at St. Martin of Tours Church, Amityville, NY. Friends may call on Thursday, February 6th, from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm at the Massapequa Funeral Home, South Chapel, 4980 Merrick Road, Massapequa Park, NY 11762. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Woodside, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fresh Air Fund, a summer youth enrichment program that Thomas was fortunate to have experienced as a fatherless child.
