William (Bill) G. Krupa, 70, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Tuesday, February 21st 2023 after a brief but courageous battle with leukemia.
The beloved son of the late Anthony and Dorothy Krupa, Bill grew up the oldest of four in Albertson NY. After graduating from Herricks High School in 1970, Bill went on to receive his BA from Adelphi University and MBA from Hofstra University.
Though he enjoyed a successful business career, Bill ultimately decided to follow in the footsteps of his father, and became a police officer. Bill joined the Nassau County Police Department in 1984. A born leader, Bill swiftly moved up the ranks becoming a Sergeant and eventually a Lieutenant. Serving as a police officer was an honor and a privilege for Bill. He led by example and was respected by all. Bill retired in 2011 after a 28 year career.
Bill married his wife Kathy in 1977 and together they built their life in Massapequa, raising four children. Bill was a true family man, playing an active role throughout his children’s lives. From coaching sports teams and cheering on his children’s accomplishments to lending a listening ear and offering sage advice, Bill could always be counted on.
In his retirement, Bill enjoyed the simple pleasures in life – a round of golf, a cold beer with friends, crossword puzzles, a good beach day, walking his dogs, sitting by a fire, enjoying a meal (especially when followed by an ice cream cone) and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Above all, Bill was a man who lived for his family and friends. He was a role model to all who knew him and a lesson on how to live one’s life with no regrets. His death leaves a hole in the hearts of his loved ones. He will be forever missed, but his family and friends find comfort in the lifetime of memories that he gifted them with.
His legacy lives on through his wife, Kathy; his children Jill Brandel (Steve), Kim Krupa, Megan Cattano (Frank), Eric Krupa; grandchildren Hannah, Jack, Chase, Brooklyn; siblings, Carol Vosilla (Ken d.), Lynn Stritzel (Ken), Tony Krupa (Mary Ellen); numerous nieces and nephews and countless friends.
