My sincere condolences to Billy's family. When he and I were kids, we were neighbors in the West End of Valley Stream, and attended Clearstream Avenue School together. I'm deeply saddened by this news.

Our Don Peppes gang is getting smaller again but as our table here on earth grows smaller, on the other side it grows larger. One day we will all be together again at the table, laughing and smelling like garlic and wine. Bill, we weren't ready for you to go yet! I feel like it was not long ago I would visit you at the toll booth with a late night snack from Pizza Sam's.. or sit on your couch in the RVC apartment giggling with Lin, trying to be quiet because you worked nights... or coming for brunch on your day off which is how you taught me to make Billy Joel's Bloody Marys, secret ingredient clam juice...or laughing with you at numerous backyard parties at your Massapequa home... you had a great voice Mr. B, I loved listening to you talk and tell stories, discuss the news, and joke around in your quiet tones with your mischievous laughing eyes. I won't forget the countless dinners, both in and out, and trips to the farm, and how you and Lin made me part of your gang of friends even though I was so much younger (stuck babysitting the rowdy young cousin again). You were a fabulous conversationalist and I am sorry these past few years I haven't called to hear your voice more often. I remember how you enjoyed your kids and loved them so as they grew and could talk for hours on the subject. You were your mother's son, a funny sweet welcoming loving person, just as she was. Linda, Ryan and Mars, I am heartbroken for you all. Gone too soon Mr. B!!! I will miss you. Until we meet again, my friend.
