Anthony “Tony” Esposito Sr., 86, of Massapequa, New York, passed away on Monday, April 8, 2024 surrounded by family. He will join his beloved wife, Ann Marie in heaven. He is survived by his five children: Joanne, (Abdel), Anthony (Terri), Lisa (the late Joseph), Michael (Karen), and Lori (Joseph), along with his eight grandchildren: Tina, (Justin), Mia, Andrew, Michael, (Laura), Dominic, Ryan, (Mackenzie), Victoria, and Jennifer, and his great grandchildren Aurora, and Aria.
Anthony was born on July 12, 1937 in Brooklyn, New York to Giuseppe and Concetta Esposito (who came from Procida Italy) where he was raised with his two brothers, Frank and Angelo, “Mike.” Anthony met Ann Marie, his soulmate, who he always referred to as his, “million dollar baby” when they were both 14 years old. The pair married August 23, 1958, and raised a family. Fifty years later surrounded by friends and family they renewed their vows with Bishop Murphy at Saint Rose of Lima Church in Massapequa.
Anthony was a proud alumnus of Brown University receiving his masters in Banking and Finance. In 1973, Anthony opened a temporary bank branch in the White Model’s Shopping Center in Massapequa. The following year, he opened the first branch of the East River Savings Bank on Long Island, where he later moved with his family. Anthony was very active in his banking and business career, and has won multiple awards and citations from local, county, state, and federal levels such as; “Citizen of the Year,” “Prestigious Town Crier Award,” “Chamber of Commerce Past President,” and was currently serving with the Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree Padre Pio Assembly.
Anthony was also an entrepreneur. He owned multiple restaurants and created various companies. After retirement, he worked at the Home Depot Learning Department as Master Business Trainer. Through all of his career successes, Anthony’s greatest source of pride has been his faith and his family. A proud Catholic man and captain of the Rosary Society at Saint Rose of Lima Church, he was also currently serving as president of the Town of Oyster Bay Arts Council (TOBAC) which was a nonprofit organization.
Anthony has left behind a legacy that will extend from generation to generation. He is described by his family as a mentor to all who have met him. His love of God and family allowed him to lead a wonderful life and it is with love and gratitude that he joins his beloved wife in heaven.
