Joan Casey passed away gracefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, April 11th filled with the courage and strength of her Roman Catholic faith. Joan was a loving daughter, wife, partner, mother, mother-in-law, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, cousin and friend during her 85 years.
Joan is survived by her beloved children, Kerry Dorsey (Dennis), Karlene Filosa (Robert), Kevin Casey (Lauren), Keith Casey (Siobhan) and her 10 grandchildren, Kevin (Jessica), Steven, Erin, Nicole, Bobby, Gavin, Kelly, Liam, Vienna, and Brandon. She is also survived by her brother, Daniel Gavin (Sharon), and her partner, William Rose, and extended cherished Irish family, and was predeceased by her husband C. Robert Casey.
Born January 17, 1936 in Brooklyn to adored parents, John and Josephine (Corbett) Gavin, Joan lived in Woodside, raised her family in Wantagh, then resided in Woodbury enjoying many lifelong friendships. Known as a consummate professional, her long administrative career at Long Island Plastic Surgical Group was richly rewarding.
A good and faithful servant, Joan was a devout parishioner at Holy Name of Jesus Church with a special devotion to the Blessed Mother. Volunteering as a Eucharistic Minister including local nursing home visitations filled her with passion and purpose.
Throughout her life, family, friends and coworkers commended Joan as a woman of grace, dignity, style and elegance with a wisdom that transcended every circumstance.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 16 at the Holy Name of Jesus Church 690 Woodbury Road, Woodbury NY 11797 at 10:00 am
