Uncle John...since I was a young boy. I looked up to Uncle John. We would visit the McCormick family when they lived in Brooklyn. He was just "cool", at least to me. He was a Tranit Cop and then detective, and then detective. He was probably the most influential person i had that lead me to being a cop. When I was called by the Transit Police, I asked him what it was like. He was honest, and told me it was a tough job. Then he told me to take Transit because it was a better job. He urged me to take promotion exams, which I did. There is so much more to say. My condolences to his family and may he Rest in Peace. Pretty sure she is starting a Warpipe band with those from the band that have passed. Love, Ted Dempsey

I have a vivid memory of Uncle John leading The Emerald Society up Fifth Avenue on St. Patrick’s Day. I ran out once and gave him a kiss. “That’s my niece, take good care of her!” he shouted before resuming the march. No doubt his great enthusiasm, love and kindness will be missed by the entire family. Sincere condolences to all.
