John Joseph Dempsey was born in Brooklyn on January 20, 1956. He enjoyed growing up with his neighborhood friends, shooting rockets up, and in the boy scouts. He graduated from Massapequa High School in 1974, and went on to Marist college graduating in 1977. He worked for a few years for the FDIC in Florida before returning home to New York. He worked in security, had a beverage distributorship, before spending the rest of his career as an IRS agent retiring in 2021. He cherished his time deep sea fishing, hunting, cruising, and at the casino waiting to hit it big. He is predeceased by his parents Robert and Raffaela Dempsey as well as his beloved puggle Delilah. John is survived by his daughters, Heather Dempsey (Andrew Yeatts) and Patti Dempsey (Drew Bennett) , his grandchildren Ellen and Jack Yeatts, and his sister Denise Gross (Walter Gross, deceased.) His memorial will be held at the Massapequa Funeral Home South Chapel on Sunday October 22, 1pm-5pm. 4980 Merrick Road, Massapequa Park, NY 11762 Dinner to follow.
