Leatrice (Hirsch) Weglarz
April 30, 1933 – February 15, 2025
Leatrice “Lee” (Hirsch) Weglarz, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, teacher, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. She was 91 years old.
Lee was the devoted wife of the late Edward Weglarz, with whom she shared nearly 60 years of marriage. Together, they built a family filled with love and laughter. She was a cherished mother to Wendy Conley (Dave), Eddie Weglarz (Kate), and Michael Weglarz (Cheryl). She was also a beloved mother-in-law to Beth.
She adored her grandchildren: Kristina Weglarz, Kimberly Lambuth (Andrew), Elizabeth Weglarz-Humbert (Jesse), Michael Weglarz, Nicole Weglarz, and Kathryn Weglarz. Her warmth and love extended far beyond her immediate family, and many others were lucky enough to call her “Grandma Lee.” She was also a beloved aunt to Marilyn Hirsch (Zvi, Ma’ayan, Eitan, Eyal), Eileen Weglarz-Cooper (Mark), and Laraine Weglarz-Rapp (Richie), and a loving cousin to Randi Borkin and Lisa Doll (Dan).
Lee was predeceased by her brother, Stanley Hirsch (Doris), and carried his memory with her throughout her life. She was also deeply loved by so many extended family members and dear friends—too numerous to list, but each held a special place in her heart.
A dedicated educator, Lee touched countless lives as a teacher, sharing her warmth, wisdom, and joy for learning. She had an adventurous spirit and loved to travel, exploring the country and the world with her family. Whether road-tripping across the U.S. or venturing internationally, she embraced every experience with enthusiasm and an open heart.
Lee was the life of the party, always bringing laughter and fun to any gathering. Her quick wit, playful spirit, and ability to connect with people of all ages made her truly special. She made every moment more joyful and every person she met feel truly seen and loved.
Her legacy of love, laughter, and adventure will live on in the many lives she touched. While she will be deeply missed, her spirit and memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.
Lee’s love was limitless, her impact immeasurable, and her memory eternal.
A wake will be held at Massapequa Funeral Home, South Chapel on Sunday, February 23rd from 1-5pm. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in her memory to the Alzheimers Foundation of America and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
