Marie E. Carrano of Chelmsford, MA, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2022. She was born on August 23, 1932, to Frank and Jennie Pacelli. Marie was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, where she spent most of her life. She grew up surrounded by family and often spoke of memories of their house being full of aunts, uncles and cousins and there always being a spread of food. Marie had a beautiful talent for needle point and crocheting. She also learned to be a milliner and made hats. On November 25, 1950, Marie married the love of her life, Charles E. Carrano. They had a son together, Charles H. Carrano, who was their pride and joy. Marie dedicated her life to being a wife and mother and naturally took on the role as a caregiver, caring for and tending to family members over the years, including caring for her parents until they passed.
Marie was deeply rooted in family and in values. She was a woman of firm steady strength. She was strict and guided by her Catholic faith. She was always sharp and serious in her approach to life but had an unexpected great sense of humor. She was a great Italian cook and always made sure her loved ones were fed. Playing the lotto was part of daily life and Marie was always talking numbers. She loved to share stories of her life growing up in Brooklyn and stories of family. But her most beloved story to share with anyone she could tell, was her love story with Charles, who passed away in 2013. She still lit up like a girl in love, with a sparkle in her eyes and a grin different than her regular smile, whenever she spoke of him. She talked about him daily and looked forward to the day they would be reunited again.
Marie recently celebrated her 90th birthday. She happily expressed full contentment and satisfaction with her life. Before her passing, Marie told one of her granddaughters, “I lived my life. I had a good husband. I had a good son.”
Marie is survived by her grandchildren, Charlie Carrano, Carissa Carrano Graham and husband Christopher Graham, and Crystal Carrano, and her great-grandsons, Christopher Graham and Caden Graham.
