Viola Macri, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on April 23rd, 2025. She was born in Reggio di Calabria, Italy, and immigrated to the United States at the age of 19, beginning a life marked by warmth, resilience, and unwavering devotion to her loved ones.
Viola first made her home in Corona, Queens, before settling in Bethpage, where she built a life full of cherished traditions and unforgettable memories. A passionate cook known for her incredible meals, she found joy in the simple pleasures—playing cards, watching Wheel of Fortune, and the occasional trip to the casino. But nothing brought her more happiness than time spent with her family. She spent her life taking care of others, her parents, husband, children and neighbors.
She is survived by her loving son Rocco (Gloria), devoted daughter Lisa (Phil), treasured grandchildren Natasha, Nicolette, Philip, and Olivia, and her dear brother Vincent (Emma). Viola was predeceased by her beloved husband, of nearly 57 years, Nicola, with whom she shared a lifetime of love.
