Albert was born May 5, 1928, in Ohio, the youngest of three children. Later, his family relocated to Brooklyn, NY. He served his country in the US Army, seeing combat in the Korean War as a sergeant in a tank squad. After the war, he returned to New York, where he met his wife, Joan, with whom he shared the rest of his life. They bought their first house in Queens, NY and started a family there, moving the family to Massapequa a few years later. They lived in that house for over 50 years, where they raised four children. Al worked most of his life as a technician for Western Electric, which later became part of AT&T. Having a knack for working with his hands, he could often be found repairing or maintaining the family cars or doing improvement projects on the house. Al and Joan were parishioners at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, and Al was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He loved bowling, golf, and card games, and he spent many relaxing hours in his backyard listening to Met’s baseball games on the radio. Upon retirement, he was able to play more golf and spend time with family and a close circle of friends. Al and Joan discovered a love of gardening, spending a lot of time cultivating a backyard full of beautiful flowers. He especially loved taking day trips around Long Island with Joan. He leaves behind the love of his life, Joan, four children (Edward, Lawrence, Carol, and Valerie), and six grandchildren (Michael, Katherine, James, Lauren, Melissa, and Ryan).
