Alfred Gast “Al” of Massapequa Park, NY (formerly of Elmont, NY) suddenly on March 19, 2021. Beloved husband of Suzanne. Devoted father of Greg, the late Edward and the late Brian. Retired Police Officer, NCPD, Highway Patrol. President of the Highway Patrol Golf Club. Proud Coast Guard Veteran. Founding Member of Elmont Volunteer Fire Department. Longtime, active and dedicated Scouter with Theodore Roosevelt Council, Al held many positions over the years, among them the Sagamore Troop Medicine Man, Asst. Scout Master for Troop 776 and Asst. District Commissioner. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to Theodore Roosevelt Council (TRCBSA.org)

i am so sorry at your loss. i know what your going thru as my wife just passed away from cancer. i knew al when we worked at hpb. we played softball together and bowled together. i remember him bringing greg to the bowling alley. we had many good times together at work and play, even on the fishing trips. he will be missed by all. I am so sorry for your loss. Al was such a kind, funny man. I will miss seeing him in the mornings at Neighbors Deli.

If you were lucky enough to be a scout or a leader in a unit that Al oversaw, you were lucky to have someone who cared to make sure things were done right. Al was always encouraging when he visited your meeting, even 2 weeks ago encouraging me to attend Philmont next summer. His warmth & caring & his knowledge of all things scouting will be missed. "May the great scoutmaster of all scouts be with us until we meet again"

Rest in peace Al. May everyone you meet in heaven play golf. May your family and friends keep you alive by sharing Al Gast stories. This way you’re alive forever
