Brian developed a love for crafts and woodworking at an early age and put that to good use working behind the scenes on many very off Broadway productions presented by the St. Mark’s Players of his family church, St. Mark’s Methodist Church in Rockville Centre, NY. His 4th grade teacher mentioned that she needed a bookcase for the classroom, so he built her one and then another for his brother, Jonathan. He was introduced to many of his skills when, as a Junior High student he assisted in the complete renovation of a two story house that a family friend had purchased for re-sale. While in High School he added a sturdy backyard shed, built from his own plan.
While his parents were talking with the Principal of Brookside Elementary School one day, Brian came quietly walking down the hall toward the office on an errand for his teacher. The Principal pointed to Brian and said, “They should all be like Brian.”
Brian graduated from Baldwin High School, Class of 1994. He continued his studies at Nassau Community College following his interests in theatrical stage crafts. He has been the foreman at A Step Above, Stair Builders for 24 years, completing many assignments on Long Island, New York City and Westchester including the grand staircase in the lobby of the Marriott Hotel in Times Square.
A wonderful, loving, devoted husband and father, Brian was “all about family.” He and Ingrid were always planning the next trip to Disney world or, as avid fans, their next trip to a Dave Matthews concert. But especially choice moments could be something as simple as eliciting gleeful giggles when this strong man tossed them about or swung the children upside down from their ankles.
I’m staggered that a man of such strength could pass from this world so young. – William Ringham
