Brian lived God’s greatest commandment, to love one another, every day of his life. He loved and cared for so many, and had more friends than anyone could count. He took everything in life with a grain of salt, and his two favorite sayings were “whatever” and “It is what it is” … No matter what happened in his life, he would say the same thing … whatever … it is what it is. Never bitter, always smiling, always helpful, always kind. Never about him … always about doing for someone else. Even in the last stage of his battle with cancer, he worried about others and never himself.
Brian and Patricia were married on June 7, 1975. They have been together over 46 years, and have two amazing children, Kelly and Brian, Jr., a wonderful son-in-law, Donnie, and four wonderful grandchildren, Connor, Kate, Brian John and Eva. He was their “Pop”, and each one is so special to him. Connor loves music and so did Pop. And Kate loves to dance and so did Pop, even though he couldn’t. And Brian John III loves sports, and Pop loved sports and Eva was his baby doll.
Brian loved to play golf, to go to the gym, to cook, to take care of his home and his garden, he loved flowers and most of all spending time with his family and many, many friends … just being together, having a BBQ, going to dinner. Everyone loved Brian, and Brian loved everyone.
Brian had a thirty-year career with US Customs and Border Protection, where he worked hard helping so many people with immigration and other issues. He assisted the Sisters of the Missionaries of Charity for many years as they traveled back and forth doing the wonderful work of St. Theresa of Calcutta and he became a friend to so many of them.
The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in memory of Brian to the “Missionaries of Charity,” 335 East 145th Street, Bronx, NY 10451. They cannot accept online donations, so checks can be sent directly to them.
