I was always jealous of the Pluschau children. They got to be raised by the perfect combination of Ozzie and Harriet & June and Ward Cleaver. If Donna Reed and Jimmy Stewart weren’t available for” It’s A Wonderful Life” Herb and Carol could’ve easily stepped in. If you wanted a model of the perfect mother you found it in Carol. Most of my friends parents in Matzo Pizza Park were first generation Americans from the Brooklyn diaspora. Carol came from deep in the Midwest from a village called Rochester and she would descend every summer with family and friends on the lake called Ontario Mrs Pluschau Thank Yoou for being a character out of a Willa Cather novel and showing my children why America is Exceptional.

To all of my Pluschau cousins, My mother informed me this past weekend that Aunt Carol passed away. I have so many great memories of Aunt Carol at the cottage, visiting Massapequa in the summer and going to the beach. I am grateful to have had her in my life. Please accept our heartfelt condolences from the Muckstadt family.

Laurie and family, I have so many memories of good times with your mother. She was a warm, fun and caring person and I will always treasure how she welcomed me as if I were another daughter from the day you and I met at age 6. Whether it was one of a hundred sleepovers at your house, trips to Lake Ontario or Florida, she made me feel like one of the family. She was such a tremendous and wonderful part of my childhood and helped to create memories that I will always treasure. My entire family and I extend our deepest condolences and hope that these cherished memories offer some comfort at this difficult time.
