On Thursday, July 2, 2020, Elizabeth (née Joyce) McWeeney, loving wife and mother of seven children, passed away peacefully at home in the presence of her family.
Elizabeth was born September 15, 1926 to Michael & Delia (née Conroy) Joyce in Brooklyn, New York. She was raised in Cambria Heights, NY with her late sisters Eileen and Margaret and her late brother Francis.
Elizabeth graduated with honors from Bishop McDonnell Memorial High School and attended classes at St. John University prior to joining Union Carbide where she served as a Legal Secretary.
Elizabeth married her beloved late husband, Donald McWeeney on June 25,1949. Together they raised seven children and resided in Massapequa Park from 1954 until her passing. She was a longtime communicant at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Massapequa Park. Among her hallmarks were her tremendous devotion to both her family and her Catholic faith. The powerful and positive impact that she had on her children and grandchildren is easy to note and impossible to measure.
Elizabeth gained her Degree in Business at S.U.N.Y. – Farmingdale and rose to become the Executive Administrative Assistant to President Dr. Frank Cipriani.
Elizabeth is survived by her children Michael and his wife Patricia of Boxford, MA, Patricia Nugent and her husband Daniel of West Palm Beach, FL, Thomas and Molly of Lake Oswego, OR, Philip of Massapequa Park, NY, Donald of Coconut Grove, FL, Mark and Moira Gorham of Mattituck, NY, and Catherine of New York, NY and her eight grandchildren Allison Balas, Erin, Meredith Lyngbaek, Matthew, Rebecca, Conor, Rory, and Tessa. She also had many nieces & nephews.
