Gail Cecelia was born in Brooklyn and a proud graduate of St. Vincent’s Hospital of Nursing in Manhattan. Upon graduation she worked at a hospital and doctor’s office. After her daughter Cynthia was born in 1970, she and her husband Charlie relocated to Massapequa. Gail wanted to continue nursing, but in a different setting where she could help young people. She retired in 2006 from the Walter G. O’Connell High School where she worked for 28 years as a school nurse. Her strong work ethic and big heart made her the consummate nurse. Gail has two brothers and four sisters, numerous nieces, nephews and grandnieces and nephews. She was the leader of her family where she ensured the holiday family gatherings and cousin parties were at her house. She believed in putting others before herself and provided support to all those around her. Gail’s pride and joy were her daughter and granddaughter. She taught us how to be kind, hard-working, caring, and accepting of others. She was family centered and animal centered as she always cared for others and her furry friends. Gail made a huge impact on so many lives and she will be sorely missed. She will always be remembered by her smile, huge heart, and love for her family and friends.
