Garret Paul Ryan
Garret Paul Ryan (Gary), 72, beloved husband of Paulette Ryan (DeMuria) and
loving father of Marissa Ryan, peacefully died on August 1, 2021. He was
born on July 6, 1949 of the late John J. and the late Janice V. (Smyth) Ryan.
Gary spent his early years in Bayside, Queens, and his formative years in
Jericho, NY before moving to Boston, MA in 1967 where he resided until
1985. He eventually settled in Massapequa, NY in 1988.
Gary attended St. Dominic’s High School, and Northeastern University,
where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing. He worked for Hallmark
Marketing Corporation for 38 years, retiring in 2009. In his spare time, he
liked to read the newspaper and history books and to complete crossword
puzzles. Gary was an avid New York sports fan and particularly enjoyed
attending New York Islander games with his family.
In addition to his wife and daughter, Gary is also survived by his siblings:
Todd Ryan and his wife Kathleen of Colorado Springs, CO; Kevin Ryan and his
wife Lara of Farmingdale, NY; and Dianne Ryan and her husband Bruce
Wimbiscus of Hicksville, NY, plus many nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations may be made in remembrance of Gary to the National
Parkinson’s Foundation (www.parkinsons.org).
