Some may not know this, My mom passed away two months shy of her 99th birthday. My mom never finished high-school. In her senior year of high-school (against her dad's wishes) she quit school and went to work at Fairchild Aviation painting and wiring instruments clusters on the P-47 Thunderbolt fighter. She would take 3 different busses from her home in Hempstead to get to Republic Aviation in Farmingdale. I would like to think of her as one of the last of the "Rosie the Riveters". God bless her and I am going to miss her so much.
