Helen Elizabeth Johnson, nee Callahan, formerly of Seaford and Syosset, NY, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2023 with family by her side. Helen was born in Bronx, New York on July 15, 1940 to Helen and Richard. Devoted mother to Jayne, Johnnie (Jay), and Tara; beloved Nanny to Sydney, Travis, Kaela, Norah, and Shauna; and great-grandmother to Sawyer. She is survived by her brother, Gerald, and predeceased by brother, Richard, and sister, Jeannette. Helen loved fiercely, laughed easily, and made friends wherever she went. She will be remembered for her love of shopping, food, family, and friends. We are quite certain that after Jesus welcomed her into His Kingdom, she settled in proudly to her new job as guardian angel to us all. If you need her, she’ll be at the casino.

My friend Helyn died a few days ago. I am happy that I was living here long enough to become friends with Helyn. She brought a lot of happiness to so many of the residents here at Paul Spring, a senior retirement community.
She was always fun to be around. She made people in her vicinity laugh. She was always alert to residents passing by our table or sitting several tables away who were experiencing more difficulty walking or were clearly in more pain than was usual. And she was out of her chair in a flash going to their side. The rest of us at the table were rarely quicker than Helyn to notice the problem.
It was a privilege to know her. And it was fun to have her as a friend.

I am so sorry for your loss - I know how much you will miss her. Many years ago when Helen was expecting Jayne in a day or so, a bunch of her friends, including me, threw a last minute baby shower. When most of the gifts had been opened, and most of the gifts were pink, Helen looked at all of us and said "I THINK they said it was a girl." She was always able to make us laugh.
