Ira Cohen, 75, of Oceanside, New York passed away on Friday, January 19, 2024.

Ira was born on June 18, 1948, to Louis Cohen and Mary Kashlinsky in Brooklyn, New York. Ira graduated from Martin Van Buren High School in 1966, and went on to receive his Associate’s Degree from Nassau Community College.

In 1968, Ira met his future wife Nancy Jean at the Driftwood Lounge in Bellerose, NY where on a bet he asked her to dance to the song, “What’s Your Name”. Ira and Nancy married in 1970 and went on to have two children, Michele and Louis.

Ira owned a successful janitorial and maintenance supply distribution company. He was dedicated to his customers and his employees.

Ira was predeceased by his loving wife, Nancy. He is survived by his daughter Dr. Michele Cohen and his son Louis Cohen (Donna), his sister Janet Cohen, his brother Leonard Peters and four loving granddaughters, Samantha, Zoe, Olivia, and Natalia as well as many nieces, nephews, and close friends.

My Uncle Ira was one of the greatest men I have ever known. He and my Aunt Nancy’s house was like a home away from when I was a child. I fondly remember spending Thanksgiving at their house every year and trips to the Nevele. I will forever cherish my memories with him and will never forget all the love he gave to my family.
