Today I discovered that my dear friend and former sergeant in TPF passed away in January. I am grateful that after some 25 years I was able to contact him and we planned to have lunch together after he got well. He never told me that he was seriously ill--but that was the kind of man he was, always thinking of others and not wanting to cause concern. Way back in the mid-seventies it was John who got me to go on a police retreat and get back into a relationship with God. I am forever thankful because I, myself, am now in the ministry. My friend, I wish I could have seen you one more time before we meet again in heaven. You were a rock solid man of integrity and an example for all the young officers who served under you. You were my role model which allowed me to excel to the rank of lieutenant before retiring. I pray for the family and will forever be grateful for a great NYPD boss and Deacon of the Church.
