John was one of my first friends in the insurance business. We met when he was stationed in New Orleans with Moac in 1988 and I was a rookie underwriter fresh out of Kings Point. A few years ahead of me, John was always someone I looked up to and we stayed in touch all these years. With all his travels we didn’t get to see each often, but each time we did it was like we never separated. That’s just how John was. He never met anyone who wasn’t a friend. He gave me good advice throughout my career and for that I am grateful. John was a good man and the world is poorer for his absence. I’m going to miss that smile. My deepest sympathy and condolences to all of his family. The standing room only memorial service was a testament to how much he is loved. Rest In Peace my friend.

Dear LaGrassa Family, Several years ago, I took this photo in late August while vacationing with my family in Boothbay Harbor, Maine. It was a grey day and the fog just sat in the harbor. In the early evening the sun finally came out causing the fog to quickly dissipate leaving this incredible sunset on the harbor. A day or two later was John’s birthday, so I posted this photo on his timeline. I want to thank the entire LaGrassa family for providing John an incredible strong foundation to enable him to touch some many around the world. I will never forget seeing John and his dad building in his garage, the New Year’s Eve party in the basement of his house, John swimming back to save the day when our canoe either capsized or got stuck between two massive rocks in the middle of the river. He was a quiet, true gentleman. This photo seems to say it all for me about John. May we always remember all that is truly wonderful about him and his spirit shines within us forever. My deepest condolences to the LaGrassa family and Elizabeth Barry. Sincerely, Emily Bellavigna Muha (high school friend)

I was so sorry to hear about John's passing. I can only imagine how devastating it is to you. John and I were in Terry's summer house together many moons ago, and I have fond memories of our time together there. He was a gem and will be missed.
