Kathleen “Kathy” Edith Colgan, 73, died February 22, 2021 at home with her loving husband, Steve, by her side.
Kathy was born Oct. 20, 1948 at Flushing Hospital in Queens, N.Y. to Edith and Paul Tuss and grew up in Metuchen NJ. She spent every summer at her grandparents’ home in Lake Peekskill, NY which provided a lifetime of wonderful memories spent swimming, playing go-sheepy-go and huge Sunday dinners on a ping pong table. She attended St. Leo College in Florida and worked in the banking field her entire career retiring 10 years ago from a consultant position.
She was devoted to “her Stevie” and they enjoyed traveling and over 40 years of vacationing in one house in LBI with her entire family. An avid reader, you could always find her sitting quietly with a good book and more recently on her Kindle. She was an expert embroiderer spending countless hours making blankets and keepsakes for her nieces and nephews when they were born. She was working on adding names to the family heirloom christening gown at the time of her passing. Kathy will be remembered for her generosity, beautiful smile and her simple elegance.
Kathy is survived by her beloved husband, Steve Polhalski; devoted sisters, Paula Franko (Michael), Constance Fagan (Richard) and Laura Hug (Kenneth); loving step-daughters Theresa (Travis) Nicholson and Ann Marie Pohalski; nephews, Alexander Hug (Lori) and Peter Hug (Laura); nieces Kaitlyn Fagan, Jessica Franko, Clare Svedlow (David) and Amanda Delino (Tyler); great nieces Maeve and Adeline Svedlow, Ava Hug, Zoe Hug, Mia Delino and great nephew Hudson Hug; and her “ever-loving” cousins Barbara (Charles) Whelan, Paul “Bud” Miklus, Erika Miklus and their children and grandchildren.
