Zaug, Loretta M, 94, of Hudson, Fl, born January 17, 1927, passed away on April 2, 2021. Loretta was born in New York City, NY, and spent her early life there. She married Marcel (Mike) Zaug in 1950 and in 1954 moved to Massapequa Park, NY, where they raised their family until they retired and moved to Florida 1987. Loretta and Mike were married for 62 years until his death in 2012. Loretta was a loving and devoted sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her family.
She was greeted at the gates of heaven by her father and mother, Edward and Hedwig (Hattie) Nyhan, brothers Thomas (Dorothy), Edward (Ruby), John (Ora) and Dennis Nyhan and sisters, Marie Porfidio (James) and Barbara Nyhan, and brother-in-law Charles Zaug. She will be lovingly remembered by her sister, Catherine Nyhan; her children, Scott Zaug (Estelle), Douglas Zaug and Denise Zaug, grandchildren Eric Zaug (Melissa) and Steven Zaug and great grandchildren Ryan and Lily Zaug; nieces Barbara Neumann (John), Catherine Rice (John); nephews Glenn Nyhan (Lisa) and Edward Nyhan (Hope); her close friend, Donna Wissler and many other good friends. Loretta was one of eight, the first girl with four older brothers and three younger sisters. She learned from an early age how to be strong and to also care for her younger siblings. She had a great sense of humor, a huge heart and a persistent nature, never deterred by obstacles. She enjoyed bowling, bike riding, the beach, daily walks but most of all, she enjoyed being surrounded by her family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Massapequa Funeral Home, 1050 Park Blvd, Massapequa Park on Saturday, May 1st from 2 pm to 6 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ASPCA, Wounded Warriors or St Jude’s Children Hospital.
