Marilyn E. Finnerty (nee Fuss), a longtime resident of Massapequa Park, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 8th, 2017 at Broadlawn Manor in Amityville. Born in 1925 to Arthur and Elsie Fuss in Brooklyn, NY, Marilyn grew up in Floral Park, NY. She graduated as class president from Sewanhaka High School. Following high school, Marilyn was employed by the International Nickel Company in New York City where she met her future husband, Bill Finnerty. They were married in 1947. Along with Bill, Marilyn was a charter member of St. Rose of Lima parish in Massapequa, where she remained active in the church community for over 60 years. They raised six children in the village they loved, and took great pride in the home and family they built together. Marilyn loved to sew and knit for her family, shop for bargains, play bridge, swim in the waves at her beloved Tobay Beach, read, and watch Masterpiece Theater and anything on BBC. She enjoyed sharing good food and a nice glass of Chardonnay with friends and family. At her summer home in the Adirondack Mountains, Marilyn spent many happy hours socializing on the beach and visiting the annual craft fairs with her friends. Over the years, Marilyn and Bill traveled widely throughout the United States and Europe, with their frequent business trips to Bermuda among her fondest memories. Marilyn is predeceased by her parents, her loving husband Bill, her brother Arthur Fuss Jr and his wife Gloria, her brother-in-law Edward Hayes and niece Donna Dohertry, and her dear daughter-in-law Donna Finnerty. She is survived by her six children: Nancy, Bill (Chris), Tricia Zebrowski (Ray), Jane Murphy (Dennis), Jim (Jane), and Dan (Keri); her sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Don McCauley; her sister-in-law Dorothy Hayes, her 15 cherished grandchildren: Kate Curcio (Dom), Ann Zebrowski, David Finnerty, Meagan Finnerty, Kyle Murphy, Kaylyn Finnerty, Claire Murphy, Joe Zebrowski, Catherine Finnerty, Joanna Finnerty, Jim Finnerty, Jillian Finnerty, Lizzie Machado, Will Finnerty and Caden Finnerty; and her great granddaughter, Rose Curcio, as well as her wonderful nieces and nephews: Maureen, Arthur (Lee), Marilyn (Jack), Michael (Diane), Dennis (Chris), Stephen (Mary Lynn), Andrew (Maggie) and their children. She will also be missed by her two dearest and oldest friends, Jean Anguilo and Pat Raitano. In memory of Marilyn, donations would be appreciated to any of these charities: the March of Dimes, St Jude Children's Research Hospital and Smile Train.
